Design brief
A broad window lights the long work counter in the Summer Mill kitchen. The wood island runs alongside it, with seating on the outer edge and pendant lights centered above the counter. Lighter cabinets around the window keep the wall visually open. Seen from the adjoining space, the darker wood at the island and the nearer cabinets helps define the kitchen within the longer view. The close relationship between the island and the window wall is particularly clear in the photographs looking along the work aisle.
