Colonial Court Residence

Design brief

A tall fireplace surface defines one edge of the open living area at Colonial Court. Built-in display shelves rise beside it, their horizontal lines contrasting with the height of the fireplace. The wood floor extends toward the adjoining rooms and keeps the longer view continuous. In the dining area, a dark patterned wall gives the table and pale chairs a distinct backdrop. The two photographs show how the fireplace, shelving and dining wall can each mark a separate part of the interior without interrupting the view across the floor.
