Center Street Residence

Design brief

A wood island with seating faces the blue-gray cabinetry in this Vienna kitchen. Its pale worktop and slim pendants help the island read as a separate piece within the room. A dark beam marks the transition to the living area, where seating is grouped away from the kitchen work surfaces. The wood floor continues across that boundary, carrying the view from one room to the next. The photographs show the difference between the view at the island and the longer view from the living room, where both spaces remain visible.

The four island seats face the cooking area, leaving the living-room furniture on the other side of the beam. The sink sits at a window between the range and the tall cabinets.
