Sterling Residence

Design brief

Warm wood cabinetry runs along the walls of this Sterling kitchen, with a dark island standing apart in the middle. The pale island top repeats the lighter counter surfaces along the perimeter. A patterned backsplash adds detail along the window side, where the cabinet faces and counter remain simpler. Pendants mark the island and leave the view through to the far end open. In the wider photographs, lighting near the base of the cabinets traces the length of the aisle and gives the darker island a clear outline against the floor.
