Design brief

The wood island brings the warmer cabinet finish into the center of the room. Its pale worktop picks up the tones of the perimeter counters and leaves the darker wood faces legible beneath it. A recessed coffee area with open shelves breaks the run of taller cabinetry, giving smaller pieces a place within the larger cabinet wall. Across the room, the cooking zone sits within a lighter surround. Pendants over the island mark the work surface while leaving the view across to the back wall open.
